Workshops—Online and In-person

I offer periodic online workshops on themes such as kindness, compassion, joy, equanimity, and the practice of mindful awareness. We learn and apply practices to bring mindfulness into our daily lives. Introductory mindfulness awareness practice instruction is offered each time, and no prior meditation experience is needed. I’m happy to offer these at your workplace or online for your staff. These workshops are also adaptable to In-person or Virtual Conferences.

Mindfulness Matters: At Work, At Home, and In Community

This workshop series (usually three or six 1-hour sessions, online or in-person) will introduce you to mindfulness awareness meditation instruction. We’ll practice the technique together, share experiences, and explore ways to apply mindfulness in our daily lives.

Mindfulness techniques cause physical changes in the brain that improve our ability to focus and manage stress. Studies show benefits ranging from sleeping better at night to reducing depression and anxiety.

Workshop Objectives:

As a result of this workshop, participants will:

  • Receive mindfulness awareness meditation instruction.
  • Develop a strategy to initiate or strengthen a regular meditation practice.
  • Explore ways to bring the benefits of mindfulness to daily life.

Cultivating Love and Kindness Every Day

Description

This is a four-session series of workshops on Kindness, Compassion, Joy, and Equanimity. These four boundless qualities are also known as the four immeasurables. We will explore and contemplate each of them in turn, and learn practices to bring them into our daily lives.

Introductory mindfulness awareness practice instruction will be offered each time, and no prior meditation experience is needed.

  • Be introduced to mindfulness awareness practice.
  • Experience contemplative practices to deepen our natural capacity for love, compassion, joy and equanimity.
  • Explore ways to bring the benefits of mindfulness and compassionate action to daily life.

Maintaining Balance in Daily Life

This workshop will help participants discover how they can best regain their equilibrium when their life begins to feel unbalanced. Being familiar with different leadership and personality styles and theories is critically important to being effective in our lives and communities.

Together, we’ll explore strategies that work for each of us to recognize when we become unbalanced, and identify ways to bring ourselves back into a sense of stability. We’ll be introduced to a tool known as the Personal Preservation Plan to build these techniques into our lives on a regular basis.

One strategy for maintaining balance includes mindfulness awareness practice. We’ll learn the technique together, share experiences, and explore ways to apply mindfulness in our daily lives.

Workshop Objectives:

As a result of this workshop, participants will

  • Be introduced to Balanced Leadership Theory.
  • Complete a Personal Preservation Plan.
  • Explore ways to bring the benefits of mindfulness to daily life.

Rediscovering Joy and Renewing Our Sense of Purpose

This workshop will offer a number of mindfulness practices to integrate into our work and daily lives. With a light-hearted attitude, we can develop a practice to be present, find the deeper joy within us, and make sure that joy is a regular part of our life even when the going gets rough! During this workshop, we will use creative visualization, mindful journaling, and other creative processes to design a clear vision for bringing more joy to our lives.

  • Learn mindfulness practices to use in our daily lives and work.

Supportive Services

Meditation Groups

I once asked a meditation teacher how best to maintain a regular sitting practice at a time when I had a busy travel schedule for work. His response was to “get a group!” This teacher was pointing out the importance of support as we progress along any path. In my experience, he was right! Let me help you find or start your own group to support your meditation practice.

Individual Instruction

Another important form of support for someone beginning a meditation practice is to meet regularly with a meditation instructor to share their experience and support the development of their practice. It may be for a reminder of the instructions, an opportunity to practice along with a more experienced practitioner, or accountability and support as we find time in our schedules for this important new habit. See the Life Balance Mentoring page for more information about how I can help you.

Meditation Spaces

Wendy Krom kneeling in preparation for mindfulness meditationCredit for this idea goes to my friends at the Brain Injury Association of Massachusetts. For many years, I’ve provided in-person and online meditation workshops for their staff, clients, and caregivers. Once their annual conference returned to in-person after COVID protocols had lifted, they wanted to provide a space for conference attendees to have a break from sensory overload. They invited me to provide a Meditation Space. I set up a welcoming room with meditation cushions and chairs; I offered meditation instruction for those who wished to receive instruction; and for the duration of the conference, many attendees stopped in, stayed for a while, and left feeling refreshed and more mindfully present for their next encounter.

Having a dedicated space for people to seek out silence, and simply sit, in the midst of busy-ness can be the greatest gift you can offer—as a Conference Provider, Nonprofit Leader, or Business Executive. Your staff, guests, clients and participants will thank you. Let me help you make that happen!
